AI Top 12 Results
Okay, so I've calmed since last night. I probably could have gone on and on with my venting but I feel a little better this morning. I'm glad I choose to wait to write this post. We are all thinking the same thing, what in the world? How is this happening? Brandon, we are sorry that you had to be the first to go. You definitely did not deserve to leave so early. Is he not so cute? He is such a sweet guy. So we must move on. Hopefully next week will be our week.

AI - Top 12
The real competition has finally begun!!! Everything leading up to this point is entertaining enough, but this is when the real fun begins! This is where it all counts and if you can't bring it at this point you don't need to be here. The night was actually very good overall. There were some oops and some oh no, no, no, but for the most part it was amazing!
Brandon - The judges really let him have it. I thought he did a pretty good job. The song was really fun. But oh wait, no he forgot the words. Huge no no! Other than that I thought it was good. We will soon find out that he was not the only one to make probably the biggest oops you could make.
Melinda - I laughed and cried with her tonight. Her response on what the hardest part has been so far "the heals and dresses" was hilarious! And her song, well I'll just say Paula wasn't the only one crying. Love Melinda's humility! She is The Powerhouse!
Chris S. - He had a huge disadvantage before he even sang his first note. He had to follow Melinda. They didn't even put a commercial break in between them! That is so sad for Chris. I think I would have demanded that happen and pray that I didn't draw the number after her for next week. I didn't love his song, but could I really hear him over blowing my nose and wiping my tears?
Gina - Love her! Again, she is not one of the Powerhouse girls, but there is something about her that I love. I am so entertained every time she gets on the stage. She didn't do her best last night, but it was still very entertaining.
Sanjaya - Okay, Diana Ross said it best "You care about him." That was her way of being nice and it's true. I find myself liking who he is but his talent is so lacking I am in awe that he is in the Top 12! I'm going to go ahead and be nice and stop there.
Haley - Another oops! I think she probably did an okay job last night, besides forgetting the words, but I could not get passed my feelings of how in the world is she up there singing when it should be Sabrina up there?
Phil - Great job! And I vote for him to get the prize of best last note of the night, if there was such thing as that award. Okay I'm creating it right now. Phil, you get the best last note of the night award.
LaKisha - Her dress was gorgeous and her performance was equally breathtaking! Love it girl!
Blake - He has been my 2nd favorite of the competition just because of how unique he is. Well, last night was not unique at all. He said that he put together a new arrangement of "You Keep Me Hangin On" but it wasn't really new or different. It was kind of boring actually, which is so weird for Blake. I think he is going to really stand out next week knowing he has some making up to do from this week.
Stephanie - The judges did not like her last night. I have to disagree with them because I thought it was incredible as always. I can't imagine her not doing a good job. But I do have to agree with Simon (which I usually do) that Melinda and LaKisha are in a whole different league and the rest will continue to be compared to them.
Chris R. - Not such a good job, but I do like him and this is why. Ella got her sway on with him. She watched the whole show with me and never once started to dance to any of the songs, but when his song came on she smiled and started swaying back and forth, which means he will remain one of my favorites. But Ella doesn't have a history of picking the most talented. Last year Ace was her favorite. Okay, so she was only 1 month old to 3 months old while it was on so how could I know who her favorite was, but I'm telling you when he started singing she would stop crying or perk up, which at that age means opened her eyes.
Jordin - Her song could have seemed a little boring but she totally captivated me. I couldn't take my eyes off the screen for a second. I know I say this every week, but can you believe she is only 17? Fabulous!
Summation: Sunjaya must go! I've said that for 3 weeks now. I don't want to have to say that again next week.
Melinda is still the front runner.

Special Day
I had to add an extra post for today because I just realized what day it is. This is a special day because this was Ella's actual due date last year. Even though she was born on February 15th, the date of March 13th will forever be ingrained in my mind because for 8 months, that is the day I had my sight set on. That is the day that you tell so many people about when asked. That is D-Day. And the fun thing happening right now is that I just got news that my dear cousin Soni is in labor right now, which means she might have her baby boy on Ella's due date. I'll never forget his birthday.
Fun At The Park
Now that the weather has been warm for the last couple of weeks, we have had some fabulous playdates at the park. Definitely one of my favorite things to do is be outside and what baby doesn't like to be outside. So it's a win, win, win (3rd win for The Office fans out there) situation.
These pictures are a little old. They are from our first playdate at the park a few weeks ago.

Don't let this adorable smile deceive you. She definitely made this face like she was going to puke the first several swings. But then she loosened up and started loving it. Either way, it's always a cute face!

I Need A Vacation, Y'all!
The need for a vacation has been nagging the back of my mind for about 6 months now, ever since I got to the point where I felt I could leave Ella over night with my parents, which by the way I just did for the first time 2 weeks ago. But a vacation has not happened. I've tried to push the burning desire to get away further and further down but this Spring Break has lead me almost to my breaking point. The reason is because it seems that everybody I know is going on these amazing spring break trips and I can't stop thinking why not me. Amanda went to California, Sunni is on her way to LONDON and half of the ministers I work with and half of my church friends are in Honduras! These are all 3 amazing, wonderful trips and I want to be apart. I need some ideas. If anyone knows a great place to spend a few days, but is relatively cheap, please let me know. Obviously we wouldn't go for spring break, but hopefully we can go soon or definitely for our 5 year anniversary. Much appreciated!

AI - Week 3 Results
Not Sabrina!! Please not Sabrina!!
Antonella - absolutely!
Jared - Yes!
Sundance - Okay!
Sabrina - No, No, No! Not one of the best! Not one of the powerhouse girls! Ya know, I had a feeling this might happen. The votes were too split. There are so many amazing girls that there weren't enough votes to go around to all of them.
So Haley's in the top 12. Well it could have been worse, it could have been Antonella in the top 12.
And Sanjaya is in the top 12. Oh my goodness!

Maybe this is the reason why he is still in.
Overall, we have a great top 12! I'm so glad my #1 and #2 made it!
So here are the top 12 in order of my faves!
1. Melinda
2. Blake
3. Lakisha
4. Stephanie
5. Jordin
6. Chris R.
7. Gina
8. Chris s.
9. Phil
10. Brandon
11. Haley
12. Sanjaya
Next week will be a lot more exciting, it always is when they finally get to the top 12.
The big announcement: they kept hyping up this big announcement all week. Well, I am so glad that the big deal was not something so incredibly trivial. They are actually doing some good. They are raising money to give kids in Africa and in the U.S. Simon and Ryan went to Africa and they showed some very sweet footage of them playing with the adorable African children! It brought tears to my eyes! My likeness of Simon went up a few notches with that.
Let me know what you thought of tonight's results! I'm interested in hearing who your favorite is. Rebecca, I can't wait to hear what you thought!!

AI - Week Three, The Girls
Day and Night. That is the difference between the guys and girls! I could listen to those girls sing for hours. Tuesday night, I was counting the minutes until the show was over.
The show started with Jordin singing Heartbreaker. It was nice to hear her sing an upbeat song! And of course she did an amazing job, especially since we can't forget that she is only 17!
Sabrina did really well! Like the judges said, she seems to be trying a little hard therefore screaming parts of the song, but she's still incredible and absolutely gorgeous!
Antonella was next. I thought she did a little better last night. Simon was very sweet when he said that she had been handling herself very well with all the stuff that's been in the media. There really is no comparison here though. I must say I laughed out loud when she said she wasn't any worse than the other girls, her style was just different. Well, that's certainly one way to put it.
Haley I think is very good, but like Antonella, she is in this singing competition with 5 powerhouses...most everyone would sound bad when surrounded by that.
Stephanie - incredible! I need some different words to describe these girls!!
Lakisha - WOW!!
Gina did excellent! Love her! I love that she sang her style and rocked. I love that she has a different style and I don't mean a "bad syle" but seriously different than 5 powershouses and still seems up to par with them. I look forward to her song each week.
Melinda!! What can anyone say other than fabulous, spectacular, incredible, breath taking? She apparently is also funny because her bit about her being OCD and how she looks at it as equal opportunity cracked me up. "When my right hand does something it's just right that my left hand do it too. When one foot steps on a crack the other foot should also. It's all about equality!" So funny!
So here it is: Antonella and Haley have to be the ones to go! If any of the other girls go there will be an outcry.

AI - Week 3, The Boys
Well, I am glad that last night's show was only an hour long. That's one positive thing, right?
The boys were back to their week one selves.
We will start with Blake. I still love him! He was great again last night. He will definitely be the last boy standing.
Sanjaya still so sweet. But he really has to go this week. Totally shocked when he walked on stage, as I know you were too! His hair was gorgeous, maybe not on him, but I'd love it on me!
Sundance did pretty well. Nothing much else to say.
Chris "JT" did a good job. I really like him. He doesn't have the greatest voice, but he is so likable! I want him to be in the final few of the competition.
Jared did okay. I'm sorry, I'm at such a lack of words for these boys.
Brandon's smile gets bigger everytime I see him! I love it! He still didn't show off the voice that he has to have. I mean he's a back up singer for some huge performers, it has to be better than that, right?
Phil was not as good this week! I really liked him last week. He was my 3rd favorite. This week, I don't know if it was the LeAnn Rimes song or what but it was not so good.
Chris S. did an excellent job! Totally moved into my 3rd favorite slot.
Wrap up: Sunjaya is definitely gone. The other guy will probably be Brandon even though I would rather see Sundance or Jared go. This really is a crazy season of American Idol. They've got 5 absolutely amazing girls and one amazing boy. Simon, Randy and Paula are responsible for the ones that made it to the final 24. They choose them, not us. So I'm just wondering what they were thinking. Were these really the best of all the thousands of boy singers they saw? Did they choose these not so great boys on purpose to guarantee one of the powerhouse girls would win? Something to think about.

The Tubes
We had such a great time yesterday at our playgroup. My friend Corey had told me about this place at Irving Bible called The Tubes. She would take the two girls there that she nannied for all the time and they loved it! It's a huge indoor playground and all it is are those tubes like at the McDonald's playground. They had one tube that was smaller and a padded slide for the babies. And they have tables with high chairs!! Seriously, they've thought of everything! The babies had so much fun!

Ava, Ella, Joshua and Laney

Ella's first run through the tube.

Jackson, Ella and Laney

Ella and Ava met in the middle for some girl time.

Jackson and Ella. We ended up stripping the babies down to their diapers so they could crawl easier without slipping!

Ella is such the standy mandy. A nickname from her daddy.

AI Results
I'm going to go ahead and say this and get it over with...WHAT?! I am shocked at the results. But you know it's American Idol and this will happen all season, the wrong people having to say goodbye too early. I got in late Wednesday night and had to watch the girls' show and the result show last night. Quickly, LaKisha, Melinda, Jordin, and Sabrina...y'all are incredible! I don't think there could ever be one negative thing that anybody could ever say about them! I get goosebumps everytime I hear one of them sing. If things go like they should, these 5 will definitely make it to the final 12. The 6th position I would choose to go to Gina. I love her voice. It maybe isn't as powerful as the big 5 but it's wonderful!
So moving on, I can not believe that Antonella is going to be around for another week! This is why I shouldn't be allowed to watch this show. It's bad for my blood pressure. Alaina and Leslie were voted out. I agree with both of those. Maybe for not this week but they would have been gone next week for sure.
For the boys...I totally disagree that Nick and A.J. should have gotten the boot! They are great. I don't think that they are the best of the boys but certainly not the worse.
On a side note, did anybody catch the comment that Ryan Seacrest said to Kelly Pickler when he asked her what she has been spending her money on. If you did, let me know.
Until next week when I'm sure we have more big shockers and more high blood pressure inducing drama!

A Monumental Moment
Yesterday, Ella got to spend an hour wtih me at work and then we went to our church's Wed. night fellowship dinner and prayer meeting. I love having Ella up here. Well, the girls in the office decided this was the day to teach Ella to walk. So Corey, Natalie, Jennifer and I got in a circle and tried and tried to get her to walk. We tried bribing her with chocolate (her fave) and ice but none would work. Then all of the sudden she walked FOUR steps!! All by herself!!! We all screamed and cheered her on! It was a very exciting moment and I was so glad I got to share it with friends! But my joy went beyond her walking because you know why she finally decided to take those 4 steps? No, it wasn't the chocolate, no it wasn't the Sonic ice (although who can resist that), it was ME! That's right, it was out of her desperation to get to me because she had started to get upset. I felt so loved! Now, I wouldn't say that she has started walking because we definitely couldn't get her to do it again, but what a great start. It's going to be anyday now.
Way to go baby girl! You're amazing!!

American Idol - Week 2
Way to go boys! You had a complete 180 degree turn from last week. I was 100% sure after watching the show last week that a girl would win, actually that the girls would be the final 6 standing, but after last night I have renewed faith in you boys. You really stepped it up and began to show the talent you have. I'm still about 99% sure a girl will win this season (let's face it, they are in a totally different league), but boys you are putting up a fighting chance now.
Phil - He is the bald headed boy who was in the military and missed the birth of his baby to try out for AI, which I find a little weird, but I guess it paid off if missing one of the most monumental moments of your life for a singing contest is worth it, he did an excellent job! I really like his voice and he is very sweet! His wife even sweeter because I don't know if I would have been that understanding.
Jared - He sang "Let's Get It On". If somebody is not a great singer but wants to come off as one I believe there are two songs a person can sing, "Let's Get It On" and "Son of a Preacher Man". They are easy to sing, they have a catchy beat, and everybody loves them. So Jared you did a great job last night.
A.J. - Loved his song! He sang "It's a New Dawn" and I thought he sounded good. He is adorable.
Chris S. - Love him so much more after his sweet words about his wife during the dedication time! He had lots of very kind things to say about her! He sang "Trouble" and did an excellent job.
Sanjaya - Oh Sanjaya! Such a soft-hearted, kind boy with a huge smile! Unfortunately I think his young age is playing a huge factor here. He seems so shy that it just is not working right now.
Nick - Sang "Fever" and dedicated it to his cutey girlfriend who suprised him by showing up tonight at the show. They are an adorable couple! And Nick's pure sounding, airy voice is outstanding. Good job!
Blake - My favorite! Let it be known I predict that Blake is going to be in the final 2! I still believe a girl will win, which one I have not decided on yet, but I believe that Blake will be runner up! He is amazing. Truly talented and entertaining.
Brandon - Sang "Time After Time" and it wasn't great. Brandon used to be a back up singer for Christina Aguilera and Usher! So there's no mistaking that he's got talent! But last night was not great, he definitely did not show off all that he has. I'm not saying you have to belt it everytime, but this early in, you better show all that you have because I think that song might have been his goodbye.
Chris R. - So cute! He is my second favorite boy! And Simon declared he was the best of the night. He sang "Geek in the Pink" which totally showed how fun and talented he is.
Sundance - Okay, I believe his dedication story about missing being with his newborn son and crying about it totally saved him for another week. Side note: What is with all these boys missing the birth of their children and missing being with them for their first few months of life for this show? And how are their wives handling that with hormones surging at an all new high? But Sundance made an excellent point that made me feel a little better. Through his tears, he said he is sacrificing being with his new son to hopefully be able to use this show to catapult him into a career where he can fully provide above and beyond for his family. He sang "Ride Sally Ride", it wasn't spectacular but it wasn't awful!
My prediction: Sunjaya and Brandon are the bottom two for this week.
Phil - He is the bald headed boy who was in the military and missed the birth of his baby to try out for AI, which I find a little weird, but I guess it paid off if missing one of the most monumental moments of your life for a singing contest is worth it, he did an excellent job!

A Double Portion
Oh boy does my cup runeth over!! This past Saturday was a day of deliverance, a day of renewal, a day of scriptual learning, a day of worship and I mean it was all day! From 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. I got to be apart of the Beth Moore simulcast, which consisted of 3 sessions with Beth and the best praise and worship I have ever experienced lead by Travis Cottrell and his group of singers! AMAZING!! I couldn't get over how equally talented and unbelievably incredible each singer was! Lord, let them be leading our worship in heaven! Can a day get any better than that?
Beth taught out of Psalm 18 and the verse that forever changed my perspective on God and the love that He has for me and the love that I am to have for Him. The verse is right at the beginning, verse 1. David sang this song to the Lord, "I love you, O Lord, my strenth." The word love in this verse is translated from the Hebrew word racham which means to love deeply, be compassionate, have tender affection. Beth described it to us as "a feeling invoked by an infant and conveys a great desire to touch!" It hit me in that moment that I will never know the deep love that God feels for me. It's beyond what I could feel or even imagine. But I can come close to understanding what that love is like now that I have an infant. The love that I have for Ella trumphs any love that I have experienced. The love that I have for her goes beyond wanting to protect her from anything and everything, wanting to kiss her a thousand times a day, wanting her to never feel heartbreak or physical pain, wanting her filled with joy and a life filled with the abundance of God! So how much more does the Lord love us? I can't imagine, but for the rest of my time on earth, I now have a reference of what it is like, the love I am to have for Him and the smidge of love that He feels for me. Thank you Beth! You have forever changed my perspective on this! It was an incredible day!
But the day didn't end there. I got to go straight into more worship in our Saturday service. Seriously, I'm so sorry for those that don't or can't experience the Word from Curtis every Saturday. What a gift we have?! If you have not visited the service, do! You will not leave with regret!

Happy Birthday Jackson Jones!!
Saturday was Jackson's 1st Birthday! I love this boy! He is the sweetest boy with the biggest smile and the biggest eyes I have ever seen! I have had the honor to know Jackson since he was just a few hours old. Heath, Ella and I were in the hospital with them just right down the hall! And it has been one fantastic day after another watching him grow! It has been one of my greatest joys to watch him and Ella play together and develop in amazing ways! I always ask Amanda what new thing Jackson is doing this week because Ella is about 3 weeks behind him, so it's great that I can know what is coming and get ready for it!
Jackson, I loved celebrating your one year birthday with you! You are such a special little man and I can't tell you how much I have enjoyed this year with you. You will forever be bonded to our family. We will always love you and always celebrate February 17th as Jackson's day!
Love,
Janelle and Ella

Ella's 1st Birthday Party!!
Wow...what a weekend!!! Ella's birthday party was perfect in every way! She was in a great mood, was so attentive to each present being opened and she loved her first birthday cake. From the decorations, to the food, to our wonderful friends and family that came, everything was better than I had imagined in my head the weeks leading up to it. We had so much fun!! And I didn't cry once! By the time her birthday got here, I had totally accepted that I now have a one year old.
I have about 200 pictures from the party, so I attempted to post only my favorites, which really is an impossible task. But it was such a wonderful day, crazy, but wonderful!
Thursday
This was Ella's actual birthday, so we had a little party for her just our little family.
