I was tucking her in bed and went through our normal routine. We read one of her stories out of her Read With Me Bible. We turned on her music. We turned off her light. And she crawled in bed. I bent down and kissed her on the forehead and told her how much I love her and nigh nights. This is where things changed.
She looked at me and said, "Mama, will you lay with me?", which she has never asked before. So how could I say no. I laid down beside her and she wrapped her arms around my neck tightly and said in her sweet little voice, "I need to get closer."
My heart melted. She actually let me cuddle with her and she cuddled back for a long time. It was an amazing moment.
The Bible tells us that God will never give us more than we can handle, but sometimes I think Ella possesses so much cuteness, it's more than I can handle at times.

Except, this would be my heart melting into a puddle.
What a perfect moment with your daughter. I want to go and wake Caroline up right now just to snuggle with her! :)
Just precious!
Awe... I just wanna come down there and hug that little girl! I'm glad you have this down on record. You won't ever be able to forget it, but wow! Thanks for sharing!

Precious!!! I love the simplicity of young children! They have no barriers or reasons to hide what they feel!!! That is such a sweet moment! :)
Oh my goodness, what a sweet little girl you have. I totally agree with you that I often feel I cannot TAKE the overwhelming love I have for my son. He is so cute I can't stand it. :)
Now that Nicholas is in his big boy bed I am finding that laying with him at nap time is the sweetest part of my day.
On an unrelated note - can I ask you if Ella was "small for gestational age" or had "IUGR?" I seem to remember reading on your blog that she was very tiny when born. Just asking because we had our baby girl a couple of weeks ago - three weeks early and 4 pounds 6 ounces. She is "SGA." I was just wondering if Ella was, too, because it came as such a surprise and I'm wondering what it means in the future, for her. Our baby (Elisabeth, aka "Bitsy") has already gained a bunch of weight, had great apgars, etc. So she seems very healthy, but it's still worrisome.
Enjoy every moment Janelle! I melt when my teens want me to lay down with them. Precious moments indeed!
So precious!
Pass the tissues please!
something on my blog for you :)
So, so cute. I love those moments!
My heart is melting just reading about it!
