2 Month Pictures

We took Ella to JC Penney for her 2 month pictures! Adorable!

I had a scary day with Ella today. This morning I was home by myself with her and she was doing just fine. It was about 11:00 and she had just ate and was falling back to sleep. All of the sudden she started to throw up large amounts of green and yellow stuff. It was every where. There was so much that she was choking on it a little. I totally panicked and called 911. In the 5 minutes it took for the ambulance to get there, I was trying to suction her and keep her from choking but I couldn't get it out of her mouth and nose. It was the scariest thing I've ever been through. The ambulance got there and the two paramedics were amazing. They were very calming and reassuring. They took her and suctioned all the stuff out of her nose and mouth and gave her oxygen. Right after I called 911, I called Heath and he immediately left work and raced home. Once he got there, they took us to Children's ER. Ella at this point was totally fine and resting comfortably in her daddy's arms. At Children's, they kept us in the ER for about 7 hours while they observed her. They wanted to keep track of her temperature to make sure she didn't get fever. They also took another chest x-ray and it turned out totally clear. So they honestly had no idea what had happened. They think that it was a combination of milk and mucus that she threw up. We went to the doctor the next day and then the next week and she did end up developing a pretty bad cold a few days later, but we don't believe the two incidents were related. It was just a very random scary thing that happend.
Through both of these two hospital trips, I realized how great family is. Of course my parents rushed to Children's as fast as they could both times! And they stayed by our side every minute. But I also have an uncle, Uncle Jim, that works right across the highway from Children's. Both times he was the first one to get to us! I can't tell you what a relief it was to see him walk into our hospital room just shortly after we got there ourselves! It was a blessing. I told him that is why he got that job at that location! :-)
I am constantly amazed at how strong Ella is. She seemed hardly phased again through this hospital experience. We are very blessed!

Ella's friend Ava is born!

On March 15th, Ella's first girl friend was born! Her name is Ava. Her parents are our very good friends, Sunni and Xavier. They are the other couple that we went through all of our pregnancy and classes together!

March 13, 2006 - My Due Date!

Today was Ella's actual due date!! Strange to think she was supposed to still be in my belly! Ella weighed 6 pounds at her one month appointment.

Well, a few sad things have happened this week. Because Ella was so small when she was born, we had an appointment at 1 week and then at 2 weeks. Everything seemed fine at her 2 week appt. on Feb. 28th but we had a question about her skin color around her mouth which was blue. The doctor didn't seemed to concerned but sent us to Children's in Dallas for a chest x-ray because apparently blue around the mouth and nose can be a sign of heart disease. Our doctor is amazing, she's on staff at almost every hospital in Dallas including Children's. She called and was able to get us right in. When they did the chest x-ray, they cleared her on anything wrong with her heart but noticed that she had some spots on her lungs that could indicate pneumonia. So they called our doctor and decided to check Ella into the hospital for a few days for observation and to give her antibiotics. That night though they had to do all these horrible tests, like a spinal tap and urine sample and an IV put in her little hand. It was the saddest day I've ever had. But everything came out absolutely normal!! She was totally healed! She was SO strong through all the awful tests! She's amazing!! We left the hospital 2 days later on March 2nd and she had was totally healthy! Praise the Lord! We were ecstatic to get her back home!!!

We left the hospital and got to bring Ella home on February 18th. Part of me was very excited to be home with her and part of me wanted to stay at that hospital with lots of professionals checking on us what seemed like every 5 minutes to see if we needed anything and to answer any questions. However, we did have two grandmas that stayed with us for a couple of weeks and were more than happy to be those "professionals".

Birthing Class

I just wanted to post a few cute pictures of mine and Heath's good friends that took the birthing class with us this weekend.

Amanda is first and she is due two weeks BEFORE me. 2nd is me. 3rd is Sunni. She is due 2 weeks AFTER me. So you can imagine how much fun we are having together!















Here's the boys.
Curt is first...he is Amanda's husband, then Heath, 3rd Xavier, Sunni's husband. Our husbands were very funny and entertaining through our birthing class. The lady who taught our class said she has never had a group of friends take her class before and she has been teaching for 6 years. She thought we had planned it this way! :-) The class was definitely very intersting! My favorite part was the tour of the hospital. It is so nice and everyone has been so wonderful! We feel very good about having our baby at Baylor Grapevine. My least favorite part about class: the video! :-)



We have one more birthing class next Saturday!

We are getting a sonogram on Tuesday, so I will definitely be updating next week.

30 Weeks

30 Weeks!!!

We hope that everyone had a great Christmas!! We had a wonderful time with all of our families! Heath's mom gave our little girl some really great presents. Those blankets are amazingly soft!!














And my parents, my sister Michelle and her husband Bradley, and my grandma all chipped in and got us a video camera!! We were very surpised! We will have great fun with that after she is born.














I now have only 10 weeks left, if you can believe that! I am 75% of the way there! She weighs about 3 pounds now and is about 16 inches long. The average baby when born is 7 pounds, 20 inches long. So she definitely has some weight to put on, but not too many more inches. I'm still feeling really good. My blood pressure was down a little more at our last appointment. We are so thankful for that! I love feeling her move more and more everyday.

Heath and I start our birthing and parenting classes in the next week and a half. I'm so excited because we get to go through the classes with some good friends that are due around the same time we are, Curt and Amanda Jones, and Xavier and Sunni Lazo. It will be really fun (and probably really funny with these boys) to go through the classes together. I'm a little nervous about the birthing classes though. Up to this point, I've tried to avoid thinking about that part as much as possible.
