Honduras

This Saturday morning at 3:20 AM (AM PEOPLE!!!!) I will load a bus from our church to the airport, headed for the great country of Honduras! For the past 6 years, our church has taken a group of college students plus sponsors to Honduras for a 7 day mission trip. I got the privilege of going 3 years ago and have had the itch to go back ever since. Thankfully, this is my year. It is an awesome trip!

Three years ago, Curtis led his first trip to Honduras for our church, just a few months after Amanda and Curtis became the college ministers. All 3 of us went on the trip. We did not know each other well, so it was such a blessing to be able to spend a whole week with them, getting to know them better. Little did we know, we would both be getting pregnant 3 months later, growing deeper and deeper in friendship.

I am so glad that I am able to go this year, since sadly it will be Curtis' last trip to lead with our church. But I'm not thinking about that yet! As Amanda says, "the thing we shall not speak of...yet".

The trip consists of several things that we will be doing.

1. Monday through Wednesday we will travel to a village called San Jose where we will spend the morning hours doing door to door evangelism. In the afternoon, we will simultaneously do VBS for all the kids and minister to the women whose men are off to work. That evening we will do a night service for everyone.

2. Thursday we are visiting a children's hospital in the city. For obvious reasons, this day is always very heart wrenching. This day I'm going to need lots of prayers. Now that I have a daughter, like any other mother, the impact of seeing a child suffering becomes far greater.

3. Friday we will visit a nursing home and minister to the elderly. Last year was the first year our group did this, so I have not had this opportunity. I've heard it's the best part and they are a blessing.

Here are a few specific things I would ask for y'all to pray for us about:

1. Our safety traveling to Honduras, travel while there, and then travel back to America.
2. Our health.
3. For the children and adults we come in contact with. That the Lord with perform miracles in their hearts.
4. The church that we are going to help start in San Jose.

Also, could you please pray for myself and Ella. We both are sick with a terrible cold. Saturday Ella was running a 104 degree fever. I took her to an urgent care place for children called Acute Kids Care. It was totally and completely the Lord that led us there. Amanda spotted it Friday night on her way to dinner with a friend. When I called her Saturday morning to tell her about Ella, she told me about this place she saw. Can you believe that? So we went and it was incredible. For all you DFW moms, I highly recommend it! I really need to be well by Friday to start the trip off well because once we get there, we are constantly busy from early morning to late at night.

Thank you!!

And one more thing...IT'S SNOWING...IN TEXAS...IN MARCH!!! Y'all, I'm so excited! It looks like a winter wonderland outside my window. If only I wasn't feeling so sick, I would go outside and play in it.

I was so excited about the snow earlier. I just wish it would stick around a little longer. I will be praying for you Janelle! For your health and Ella's and the trip. You will have to tell me more about this clinic.

I will pray for you. What an exciting opportunity. I can only imagine that you will see this trip through different eyes now that you are a mother. I hope you and Ella get well quickly and you have an awesome trip.

I am so excited that you're going on this trip! I'll be praying that God will use you to pour into others out of the overflow that He'll pour into you.

Glad Ella is better! :)

Janelle!

How awesome that you get to do this again! I will for sure be praying for y'all next week!

Does this mean you have to leave Ella for a week also? If so, praying for that too. I am sure it's not the easiest thing!

I am copying your requests and printing them up for my daily time in prayer. I remember going to do Mission Arlington one year and doing the backyard Bible clubs and VBS. I remember each of the faces of the children and the smiles on their faces as they sang "Jesus Loves Me." I was about two months pregnant at the time. It impressed upon me to pray something particular for each of our children--to have a huge heart for missions. And so far, they do!

Praying for you, Janelle...also praying for the not to be talked about time. I know that God will make your friendship deeper and richer--I know by experience! He uses the power of prayer to bind friends together in such a way beyond our understanding.

Much love in Him,
holly

PS Praying for your health, too!

Looked at the Acute Kids site - how awesome is there mission statement? "Because we understand it takes 5 minutes to pick out a sticker"...Are you kiddin' me? I'm totally sending this link to my pediatrician. :))
